About

I'm a senior full-stack engineer and technical leader who's spent years building tools for organizations that are trying to make the world a little better. I care about shipping useful software that actually helps people, not just impressive tech demos.

How I got here

My focus on tech for good didn't happen by accident. Working with organizations like Human Rights First and FreeWorld has shaped how I think about building software. These aren't abstract projects—they're tools that help people navigate crises, access opportunities, and protect their rights.

At Human Rights First, I built systems that help advocates track legislation and respond to threats to civil rights. At FreeWorld, I worked on platforms that support formerly incarcerated individuals through training and job placement. These experiences taught me that the best technology is the kind that disappears into the background, letting people focus on their work instead of fighting with tools.

I've learned that nonprofits and mission-driven organizations face unique challenges: limited budgets, small teams, and the constant pressure to demonstrate impact. They need partners who understand these constraints and can build solutions that are both powerful and practical.

What it's like to work with me

Communication

I believe in clear, regular communication. You'll hear from me with updates, questions, and demos—not radio silence followed by surprises. I'm responsive to feedback and transparent about what's working and what isn't.

Pragmatic decision-making

Every project involves trade-offs. I help you understand the options and make decisions that balance speed, cost, and quality in ways that make sense for your situation. Sometimes the best solution is the simplest one.

Collaborative partnership

I'm not here to build in a vacuum. I work closely with your team to understand your needs, constraints, and goals. The best outcomes happen when we're aligned on what success looks like.

Focus on outcomes

I care about building things that matter to your mission, not just impressive technical feats. Every feature, every decision, should serve a purpose that helps your organization achieve its goals.

Recognition & Experience

Okta Tech for Good Fellow

Recognized as a thought leader in nonprofit and social-impact technology, building the future of technology, innovation, and social impact.

SXSW Speaker

Spoke at SXSW 2023 about "Incarceration Nation: Breaking the Cycle," discussing how tech solutions help formerly incarcerated people find second chances and address labor shortages.

Real-world experience

Built web apps, portals, and automations for high-stakes contexts where reliability and user experience matter. I've worked on systems that help people during crises, track legislative threats, and support workforce development—all while navigating the constraints that come with nonprofit budgets and timelines.

If this sounds like the kind of partner you want, let's talk.

I'm always interested in hearing about new projects and opportunities to make an impact.
